Deadline for submitting draft to title board for initiatives to be voted on in 2011. (By 3:00pm, 12 days before the last Title Board Hearing)
20 April, Wednesday
Last Title Board Hearing for measures that will appear on the 2011 Coordinated election ballot.
12 May, Thursday
The General Assembly must adjourn no later than this date. (Regular sessions shall not exceed 120 calendar days)
 1 June, Wednesday
Last day for the Secretary of State to notify county clerks of qualified political organizations' loss of qualified status.
22 July, Friday
Deadline for a political subdivision that has taken formal action to participate in the Coordinated Election to notify the county clerk in writing. (100 days before the election, if the governing body has taken formal action)
1 August, Monday
Last day to file an initiative petition with the Secretary of State for the 2011 Coordinated Election. (no later than 3:00 PM, at least 3 months before the election)
1 August Monday
Last day to file an addendum to a previously filed initiative petition that has been deemed insufficient. (Within 15 days after determination of insufficiency, but no later than 3:00 PM at least 3 months before the election)
3 August, Wednesday
Last day to establish polling places for the 2011 Coordinated election. (No later than 90 days before the election)
3 August, Wednesday
Earliest day for candidates for the office of school district director to circulate a nomination petition. (No sooner than 90 days before the election)
3 August, Wednesday
Last day for the county clerk and recorder conducting a mail ballot election to mail voter information cards to electors whose records are marked "Inactive - Failed to Vote." (No later than 90 days before a mail ballot election)
23 August, Tuesday
Deadline to sign intergovernmental agreements between the county clerks and political subdivisions that will be coordinating. (No later than 70 days before the election)
26 August, Friday
Last day for candidates for the office of school district director to file a nomination petition. (No later than 67 days before the election)
29 August, Monday
Last day to file an affidavit of intent to run as a write-in candidate for a non-partisan coordinated election. (By close of business on the 64th day before the election)
1 September, Wednesday
Last day for the Secretary of State to issue statements of sufficiency or insufficiency for initiative petitions filed on August 2nd. (No more than 30 calendar days after the petition is filed)
2 September, Friday 
Last day for the Secretary of State to send notice and certification of the Coordinated election ballot to the County Clerks. (No later than the 57th day before the Coordinated election)
 2 September, Friday 
Deadline for election official to make available to qualified electors special write-in blank mail-in ballot along with a list of all measures that will be on the ballot. (At least 57 days before the election)
2 September, Friday  
Last day for designated election official from each political subdivision that intends to conduct an election to certify the ballot content. If the election will be coordinated with the county, the certification must be delivered to the county clerk and recorder of each county that has territory within the political subdivision. (No later than 60 days before the election)
2 September, Friday  
Deadline for the county to file security and contingency plans with the Secretary of State. (No later than 60 days prior to the first election)
2 September, Friday  
Last day for a county to submit an alternative counting method for use in the Coordinated Election. (No sooner than 120 days and no later than 60 days before the election)
7 September, Wednesday
Last day to submit a mail ballot plan to the Secretary of State to conduct the November election by mail. (No later than 55 days prior to the election)
16 September, Friday 
Last day to file pro/con comments pertaining to local ballot issues with the designated election official in order to be included in the ballot issue notice. (Friday before the 45th day before the election)
16 September, Friday
Final day for the Secretary of State to approve alternate ballot counting method. (No later than 45 days before the Coordinated election)
17 September, Saturday
School of instruction for all election judges may be held by the county clerk and recorder or designated election official. (Not more than 45 days prior to the election)
18 September, Sunday
Last day for Legislative Council to publish the title and text of statewide ballot measures in every legal newspaper. (At least 15 days prior to the final date of voter registration for the election)
19 September, Monday
Last day for a petition representative to submit a summary of comments in favor of their local ballot issue. (No later than 43 days before the election)
20 September, Tuesday
Last day for the designated election official to deliver ballot issue notices to the County Clerk. (No later than 42 days before the election)
22 September, Thursday 
Last day for the designated election official to order registration and property owner records for use by election judges in a local election that is not coordinated with the county. (No later than the 40th day preceding the election)
22 September, Thursday 
Last day for the Secretary of State to give written approval to a submitted mail ballot plan, if plan was filed on September 7th. (15 days after submission of the plan.)
28 September, Wednesday to 3 October, Monday
Voter registration applications accepted at a voter registration agency, must be transmitted to the county clerk and recorder of the county in which the agency is located, no later than 5 days after the date of acceptance. (During the last 5 days before the last day for registration to vote in the election) 
 30 September, Friday
Ballots for the Coordinated Election must be printed and in possession of the designated election official. (Not less than 32 days before the General Election)
30 September, Friday 
Deadline to send mail-in ballots to military and overseas electors. (No later than 30 days prior to the election where a mail-in ballot request was received at least 35 days prior to the election*) *Because the election does not include federal races, ballots are mailed according to the state deadline.
30 September, Friday 
Deadline for the county clerk and recorder to provide initial registration lists, and county assessor to provide initial property owner's list ordered by political subdivisions. (First list provided by the 30th day before the election and the supplemental list provided the 20th day before the election)
30 September, Friday 
Last day for the Legislative Council staff to print and distribute the ballot information booklet for statewide measures to active registered voters. (At least 30 days before the election)
30 September, Friday 
Last day to mail ballot issue notices. May be coordinated with the mailing of the ballot information booklet required by Section 1 (7.5) of Article V of the Colorado Constitution. (At least 30 days before a ballot issue election)
3 October, Monday 
Last day to register to vote for the Coordinated Election. (No later than 29 days before the election)
4 October, Tuesday to 4 November, Tuesday
Any elector who was registered in the state and moved prior to the close of registration may complete a change of address, and any elector who attempted to register prior to the close of registration may complete an emergency registration by appearing in person at the county clerk and recorder's office or authorized branch location. (For the 28 days before and on the day of the election)
7 October, Friday 
Deadline to complete changes in the boundaries or division of precincts for nonpartisan elections. (No later than 25 days prior to the election)
11 October, Tuesday 
First day mail/mail-in ballots may be sent to electors with an active request, except for UOCAVA electors. First day mail ballots may be made available at the county clerk and recorder's office if the Coordinated Election is conducted by mail ballot.(No sooner that 22 days before the election*)  *Because the 22nd day falls on a holiday, the deadline moves to the next business day.
12 October, Wednesday 
Deadline for the county clerk and recorder to provide supplemental registration lists, and county assessor to provide supplemental property owner's list ordered by political subdivisions. (First list provided by the 30th day before the election and the supplemental list provided the 20th day before the election)
12 October, Wednesday 
Last day for the designated or coordinated election official to provide published notice of a mail ballot election. (No later than 20 days prior to election)

 14 October, Friday
Deadline for the county clerk to send mail ballots to each active elector for a Coordinated Election conducted by mail ballot. (No later than 18 days before the Election)
17 October, Monday 
Early voting begins at the early voters' polling place for the Coordinated Election. (15 days before the election)
17 October, Monday  
Last day to appoint board of canvassers for a nonpartisan election that is not coordinated by the county. If the election is coordinated, the canvass board will be appointed in accordance with the intergovernmental agreement. (At least 15 days before election)
17 October, Monday  
Last day for the designated election official mail a voter information card to each household if they choose. It may be included with the ballot issue notice. (The designated election official may mail the card. No later than 15 days before a nonpartisan election)
17 October, Monday  
Counting of ballots may begin 15 days prior to the election. No results may be disclosed until after 7:00 P.M. on election day.
 20 October, Thursday
Last day to post polling place signs for the Coordinated Election. (At least 12 days before the election)
21 October, Friday 
Equipment inventory lists due to the Secretary of State not less than 10 days prior to the Coordinated election.
 21 October, Friday 
Deadline for the designated election official to mail a copy of the notice of election to the county clerk and recorder of each county in which the political subdivision is located if the election is not coordinated by the county. (No later than 10 days prior to the election)
21 October, Friday  
Last day for the county clerk and recorder, or designated election official if the election is not coordinated by the county, to give  published notice of the Coordinated Election. (No later than 10 days before the election)
 21 October, Friday to 3 November, Monday
A copy of the notice of the election must be posted in a conspicuous place in the office of the designated election official. (At least 10 days prior to and until 2 days after the election)
25 October, Tuesday 
Last day to apply for a mail-in ballot for the Coordinated Election if mailed. (No later than the 7th day before the election)
25 October, Tuesday 
Election setup records are due to the Secretary of State. (No later than the 7th day prior to the election) 
28 October, Friday
Last day to apply for a mail-in ballot for the Coordinated Election if the ballot is picked up in person. (Close of business the Friday before the election)
28 October, Friday
Last day for early voting at the early voters' polling place for the Coordinated Election. (Close of business the Friday preceding the election)
1 November, Tuesday
Polls open 7:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M.) For local or statewide matters arising under Article X, Section 20 of the State Constitution and for regular biennial school elections. (The first Tuesday in November of odd-numbered years)
1 November, Tuesday
Emergency mail-in ballot requests must be made before 5:00 P.M. and returned no later than 7:00 P.M. on Coordinated election day.
1 November, Tuesday All mail/mail-in ballots and emergency mail-in ballots must be in the hands of the county clerk no later than 7:00 p.m. on election day. Except for ballots cast by absent uniformed service electors (and dependents) serving outside the U.S., which must be voted and transmitted no later than 7:00 P.M. on election day and received no later than the close of business on the 8th day after election day.
3 November, Thursday
Deadline for the Secretary of State to notify all counties of which voting devices and which race or races have been selected for auditing purposes is 7:00 p.m. (Within 48 hours after the close of polls)
3 November, Thursday
Deadline for the county clerk to send missing signature, signature verification, and missing ID letters for mail/mail-in ballots. Deadline for the county clerk to send missing signature letters for provisional ballots. (Within 3 days from signature/ID verification but no later than 2 days after election day)
9 November, Wednesday
Last day for ballots cast by absent uniformed service electors serving outside the U.S., to be received by the county clerk in order to be counted. (No later than close of business on the 8th day after election day. Ballots must have been voted and transmitted by 7:00 P.M. on election day)
9 November, Wednesday
Last day for elector to cure signature discrepancy or missing signature, or to provide missing ID for mail/mail-in ballot to be counted. Last day for elector to cure missing signature for provisional ballot to be counted. (Within 8 days after election day)
15 November, Tuesday
Deadline for the Secretary of State to notify all counties of which voting devices and which race or races have been selected for auditing purposes is 7:00 p.m. (Within 48 hours after the close of polls)
18 November, Friday
Counties shall report the results of the post-election audit to the Secretary of State. (No later than 5 p.m. on the 17th day after the election)
21 November, Monday
Last day for County Clerks to transmit returns to the Secretary of State if there are statewide issues on the ballot. (No later than the 18th day after the election)
25 November, Friday
Deadline for the Secretary of State to compile and total the returns received from all counties and determine if a recount is necessary. (No later than the 24th day after the election)
25 November, Friday
Last day an interested party may request a recount at its own expense. The request must be filed with the appropriate governing body. (Within 24 days after the election, to be completed no later than the 30th day after the election)
When an interested party files a request for a recount the designated election official or other appropriate governing body shall notify the political subdivision within which the election was held of the request. (No later than the day following the request.)
The election official who will conduct the recount must determine the cost of the recount and advise the requesting party. (Within 1 day of receiving the request to recount)
The interested party that requested a recount must pay the cost of the recount by certified funds to the election official with whom the request was filed before the recount may proceed. (Within 1 day of receiving the election official’s cost determination)
1 December, Thursday
Last day to complete a mandatory or requested recount. (No later than the 30th day after the election)
1 December, Thursday
Last day to file a contest for statewide initiatives or referenda with the clerk of the district court. (Within 10 days from Nov. 21st)
7 December, Wednesday
Last day to affiliate with a political party in order to vote in the precinct caucus if held on February 7. (2 months)>before the precinct caucus)
11 January, Wednesday 
General Assembly to convene 2012 regular session. (10 A.M., no later than the 2nd Wednesday in January of each year)

This calendar applies to all county candidates and committees who are participating in a 2011 election, which means you file on the frequent schedule. Please see the calendar for infrequent filers (those not participating in a 2011 election).
